The Tasmanian Transport Museum (TTMS) is open on Sundays and by appointment for school and tour groups.

Admission prices vary depending if train rides are available. Visit the Opening Hours and Train Ride Schedule to see when the museum is open and when the next train ride is scheduled.

Important Information

  • On Steam Train and Diesel Y4 days, the 11:15am train ride is via TryBooking sales. Tickets for all other rides are sold at the gate.
  • Railcar train rides tickets are available at the gate only.
  • Children prices are charged between 4 - 15 years of age (0-3 free entry).
  • Children under 4 must sit on an adult's knee (or purchase a ticket for a seat).
  • Steam Train rides will be cancelled during declared Total Fire Bans and replacement diesel service operated where possible.
  • Guide Dogs and Assistance Dogs are welcome.
  • Wheelchair accessible site *conditions apply - see our Accessibility page.
  • Companion Cards are welcome, these must be presented at the gate only.
  • EFTPOS facilities available.

Conditions of Entry

  • TTMS reserves the right to replace the steam locomotive with diesel trains at any time.
  • Online tickets are non-refundable nor transferable unless train rides are cancelled.  In the event of train cancellation, full refunds will be given for online tickets.
  • TTMS is unable to transfer online bookings to any other services.
  • TTMS reserves the right to cancel train rides at any time.
  • Tickets are valid for the day of travel only and entitle you to one ride. Subject to operational requirements and where seats are available, a 2nd ride may be available.
  • No smoking within the museum site or on any of the trains.
  • Visitors to the Museum must behave responsibly at all times. Care should be taken around the trains and other exhibits and Visitors must comply fully with any directions from Museum staff.
  • Anti social behaviour of any form, including verbal or physical abuse of Museum staff or other Visitors, will not be tolerated at any time. Visitors engaging in such activity must immediately leave the Site if directed to do so.
  • Special Event tickets will be advertised as required and may have higher event pricing.
